Questions and answers
What can I do with Local PDF Tools?
You can merge PDF files, split a PDF, reorder, rotate or delete pages, and turn JPG and PNG images into a PDF. Everything runs in your browser.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Your files are processed on your device and are not uploaded. You can check it yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and you will see that your file is not sent anywhere while it is processed.
Is Local PDF Tools free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is free. There is no sign-up, and no watermark is added to your files.
Are there limits on file size or number of files?
The current limits are up to 100 MB per file, 300 MB in total and up to 50 files at once. The result can have up to 1000 pages, and each image in Images to PDF can be up to 50 megapixels.
Can I use password-protected PDFs?
No. The tool does not open password-protected or encrypted PDFs and shows a clear message instead. Remove the password in the app where you have it, then add the file again.
What is Local PDF Tools built with?
It uses open-source libraries, including pdf-lib (MIT licence) to create the PDF files and pdf.js (Apache-2.0 licence) to show page previews. Both are served from our own site, with no third-party scripts and no cookies.
