libheif-js 1.23.5 (libheif 1.23.5) — LGPL-3.0
HEIC/HEIF decoding is provided by libheif v1.23.5 (© struktur AG and contributors), compiled to WebAssembly by libheif-js 1.23.5. It bundles libde265 v1.0.15 (© struktur AG, Dirk Farin and contributors; LGPL-3.0) for HEVC decoding only. This site never encodes HEVC/HEIC.
- The library is shipped unmodified as a separate, dynamically loaded module (
vendor/libheif/libheif.js,vendor/libheif/libheif.wasm) and is only fetched when needed. - Licence texts: LGPL-3.0, GPL-3.0 (referenced by LGPL-3.0).
- Corresponding source (exact versions): libheif v1.23.5, libde265 v1.0.15, build scripts: libheif-js 1.23.5 (npm
libheif-js@1.23.5; prebuilt by libheif-emscripten v1.23.5). - Replacing the library: you may substitute your own build by replacing the two files under
vendor/libheif/with a compatible Emscripten build (see LGPL-NOTICE.md for rebuild instructions). The decoder can also be disabled entirely viaconfig.js.
Browser codecs (WebP, AVIF, JPEG, PNG)
WebP, AVIF, JPEG and PNG decoding/encoding is performed by your browser's built-in codecs; this site ships no copy of them. For information: browsers typically use libwebp (BSD-3-Clause), libavif (BSD-2-Clause), dav1d (BSD-2-Clause) and libaom (BSD-2-Clause), with AV1 under the Alliance for Open Media Patent License 1.0.

Format names (HEIC, HEIF, WebP, AVIF, JPEG, PNG) are used descriptively only. This site is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any device maker, browser or software vendor.
Browser testing: tested in Chrome/Chromium, Firefox and a WebKit engine build. Safari on macOS and iOS/iPadOS is not fully tested yet; if something does not work there, please report it on GitHub.
